Our environments shape our experience of life. Let’s work together to make those experiences positive for everyone.
Howdy.
I’m a behavioral researcher, design strategist, and musician living in Ithaca, NY.
My rendering of a tiny house interior (SketchUp, AutoCad, Adobe Photoshop, VRay).
I study how we engage with our surroundings.
I’m a design strategist with a focus on happiness and well-being. I research design for emotion at the Meta Design and Technology Lab (MDTL) at Cornell University. Through my National Science Foundation-supported research, I investigate how people interact with technologies to augment positive emotions. We’ve mapped 25 Positive Emotion Regulation (PER) techniques that cover meaning, enjoyment, and psychological richness. I’m currently developing a multi-week intervention that supports community well-being through interactive artistic expression. In related work, I’ve developed a scratch-off poster that facilitates savoring of everyday life.
I’m the design strategist for an augmented reality, well-being intervention geared towards mobile accessibility. I’m also guiding a well-being-focused, artist residency in Europe. I’ve also helped to design a Hackathon in New York City.
I have a personal mission to understand how environmental factors contribute to flow state (i.e., being “in the zone”). I blog about some of my discoveries on this website.
By night, I am an artist and musician.
